Bill Victor for Manhattan Beach City Council

WHO I AM
Manhattan Beach is a Great Place to Live
A vote for Bill Victor for Manhattan Beach City Council is a vote to refocus on preserving and improving the best parts of our valued and shared home.
Bill Victor has lived for much of his life in Manhattan Beach. After a wrong turn on an airport trip led him to this then unheralded paradise, he bought a home here 35 years ago. He gradually threw himself into city politics as a concerned and engaged citizen. His successes on behalf of his fellow citizens include advising City Council that their planned street sweeping fees were illegal and then when they learned he was right, advising them again to return all 9 years of their ill-gotten gains instead of the less than half they proposed to return.
Bill Victor wants our town to be safer, our City Council and staff to be more transparent, less profit driven and more quality driven. We are a solvent and even rich town so we can afford the luxury of deciding whether we want to grow bigger or grow smarter and better. As a lawyer with long experience representing many kinds of clients from large corporations to aggrieved individuals he has a long view perspective that will serve us well.
Bill Victor proposes hiring fewer expensive consultants and instead using our capable city staff and our highly qualified citizens serving on Commissions. Too often they are ignored. City Council members need to do their job and make the decisions we elected them to make instead of hiding behind expensive outside consultants’ “expert” findings.
Bill Victor would like to see MB police officers walking beats downtown and on the Strand so as to make our community safer and our police more a part of the MB family. He would like to stop the militarization of our police force. We don’t need our very own assault vehicles to keep us safe. Victor hopes the Council will grapple with the problem of our unfunded pension obligations before that problem grows beyond control.
